Jon Elkon to stand in Heston West

2 December 2019

Jon Elkon

JON ELKON is the Hounslow Green Party candidate for the Council by-election for Heston West, which takes place on 12th December at the same time as the General Election. Jon is a teacher who worked at Featherstone High for 14 years, a writer and a martial arts instructor.

Jon Elkon“My objective in the Council,” Jon says, “would be to make sure that their recent declaration of a Climate Emergency results in some real action, not just promises! In addition I want to represent the interests of the people of Heston West to make this part of West London into the sort of place residents can be proud of. Our research in the area shows that the most important issues are rubbish – fly-tipping needs to be tackled aggressively and the perpetrators prosecuted. We need more cctv in affected places.  Traffic: cars are driven too fast through neighbourhood streets, which endangers children and the elderly in particular. More traffic calming, enforced by law. Pollution: particularly, air pollution, congestion and the interminable noise of planes from and to Heathrow. I will battle against the Third Runway – it is an assault on the environment.”
