Hounslow Green Party has strongly objected to plans from neighbouring Conservative-controlled Hillingdon Council to dump 9.9 cubic metres per day of secondary treated sewage effluent into The River Crane at Cranford Park.  Sewage effluent discharged upstream will flow downstream through Cranford, Feltham, Hounslow Heath, Hanworth, Whitton, Twickenham, St. Margarets and Isleworth, and end up in the River Thames.

In submitting evidence on behalf of the Hounslow Green Party, Dave Wetzel, a Hounslow Green Party member and former environmental champion at the GLC as Transport Chair, Hounslow Council Leader and the first Vice-Chair of Transport for London (TfL), said “There are other solutions to Tory, Hillingdon’s wastewater problem, they do not have to discharge 9.9 cubic metres of secondary treated sewage into the River Crane and risk environmental damage.”

"I urge all citizens of Hounslow, young and old, to join us in the Green Party to protect our environment, fight climate change and pollution, create cheaper renewable energy with buildings adequately insulated and adopt green taxes like annual Land Value Tax to avoid urban sprawl, eliminate poverty and tackle the cost-of-living crisis”.
